Glynneath v Skewen

Glynneath playing Skewen for two consecutive games came out on top once again on a rain soaked pitch where surprisingly both sides had periods where handling was of a high standard.Pressure was on the home side from the start when they failed to gather the kick off and it set up Skewen for a five minute period in the Glynneath half where the home side had to defend furiously. Having kept their line intact a loose ball saw a kick upfield and a foot race by Alex Burton only for the visitors to clear the danger. It was Glynneaths turn to enjoy some possession and the visitors suffered a yellow card and Glynneath took advantage when a well timed pass by outside half Rowan Lovering saw centre Aled Evans spin out of tackle to go over for a try .Sean Tennant converting.Minutes later Tennant added a penalty to increase his sides lead .Glynneath let Skewen back in the game when loosing the ball in midfield fifty metres out ,Rory Morgan Williams raced away for a try .Converting his own score.Glynneath were well on top and the visitors failed to get out of their half  for the first 20 minutes of the second period .In the heavy conditions mistakes were creeping in which kept the scoring at a premium. With Glynneath pounding the visitors line the dogged Skewen defence worked hard to keep them out .They finally cracked to a piece of skill by prop Gareth Hall whose dummy left the Skewen defence in disarray and still with work to do changing the ball to his other hand it allowed him to hand off defenders on the 22 metre run to the line to put his side two scores clear. As in the previous game Glynneath were down to fourteen men for the last five minutes but again survived to clinch a rare double over Skewen Full time Glynneath 15 Skewen 7
