Ammanford made a mockery of their lowly league position as they made Glynneath fight all the way for victory.Glynneath looked certain to open the scoring in style when some slick passing put wing Aled Evans and his inside pass saw it dropped just yards from the line.A break out of defence minutes later opened up the Glynneath defence but a forward pass denied them a score.Glynneath were throwing the ball around in the sticky conditions but were being frustrated by some great defensive work by Ammanford.On the visitors first real visit into the Glynneath 22 they were awarded a penalty but the effort struck the crossbar allowing Glynneath to clear their lines.Ammanfords Steff Roberts had a chance to make amends for his earlier miss but incredibly fired an even more easier kick wide of the upright.Jordan Griffiths chasing his own kick ahead was taken out ,with the visitors lucky just to concede a penalty and not a yellow card to go with it.With Glynneath on the attack,Ammanford gave away another cynical penalty which this time did result in a card.Jack O’Reilly slotting over the kick.The same player fired over a 40 metre penalty to increase Glynneaths lead on the stroke of half time.The start of the second half saw Ammanford having more of the game and when they had a lineout close to the Glynneath line a great steal by Glynneaths Man of the Match Jonathan Griffiths eased the pressure.Jack O’Reilly was successful with his third penalty of the game to make it 9-0.Glynneath we’re playing some excellent rugby and a great inter passing touchline move saw Alex Evans finish out wide.When both sides were shown yellow cards the game died a bit ,but when both sides were back to full compliment Glynneaths scrum dominance saw them take the game to the visitors and the strength sapping pitch saw the sides happy to hear the final whistle.Full time Glynneath 14 Ammanford 0
