Glynneath v Birchgrove

Glynneath gained revenge for an earlier season defeat running out emphatic 37-15 winners and setting up the next meeting between these two sides nicely when they meet in the quarter final of the Plate.Glynneath having most of the play in the opening ten minutes took a well deserved lead when Jack O’Reilly slotted over a penalty.When Glynneath were given a yellow card it was Glynneath who after seeing the visitors draw level with the resulting penalty Glynneath regained the lead from a driving line out,prop David Jones committing a few defenders saw Jonathan Griffiths snap up the ball to stretch out for the line .O’Reilly converting.Some slick passing saw Glynneath increase their lead when centre Greg Roberts finished off the move going around to the posts which O’Reilly duly converted.Birchgrove hit back with a superb try ,Curtis Davies who was proving to be a thorn in the home defence broke away and he fed speedy wing Mathew Edwards who outstripped the home defence to go over.Jack O’Reilly struck a 40 metre penalty to regain the initiative.Another great piece of play by Birchgroves Curtis Davies saw him caught 15 metres out and when his backs regained possession and went wide an interception by Glynneaths Alex Burton saw defence turn into attack as he raced 70 metres for his try.Jack O’Reilly adding the extras.When it was the visitors turn to receive a yellow card Jack O’Reilly punished them with his third penalty of the game.A high kick ahead saw Steff Stone with a great gather but he just failed to get his pass away.Birchgrove who were completely dominated at scrum time and saw them lose numerous line outs always looked dangerous with the ball and  scored another excellent try with some great support play and offloads saw Josh Key race away for a try .Mathew Edwards converting .Mistajes in the visitor’s defence saw Glynneath’s Owen Nesbitt claim the ball to stroll over unopposed for a bonus point try .Dylan Francis converting to round off the scoring .Full Time Glynneath 37 Birchgrove 15
