Glynneath kicked off their season with a convincing victory over Rhiwbina, a side that they put to the sword in the Silver Ball final last season. After Jack O'Reilly had fired his side in front with a penalty, two penalties by the visitors Bret Chadwick put his side in front, before O'Reilly brought his side level with his second penalty of the game. Glynneath then increased their lead when young Ieaun Williams chasing a penalty effort saw the ball ricohet off the upright which he collected to go over. O'Reilly adding the conversion. Two Jack O'Reilly penalties either side of half time increased his sides lead. A great run out of defence saw Glynneath's Liam Puckett finish off the move with O'Reilly converting. Joe Cassella pulled a try back for Rhiwbina, followed by Jack O'Reilly firing over another penalty for the home side. O'Reilly set up a try for hooker Craig Tennant. Centre Greg Roberts then finished off another fine piece of play by Glynneath to round off the days scoring that saw Glynneath carry on where they left off last season with a trophy.
