Glynneath v Brynamman

Glynneath 45 Brynamman 3

Glynneath stormed to the top of the league in style. The Glynneath try machine rolls on running in seven tries against a much improved Brynaman outfit. It was the visitors who started brightly, cutting through the Glynneath defence only to be prevented from an early score by some great covering tackling. They were awarded a penalty but it sailed wide of the posts.Glynneath’s first attack produced a score when from a line out wing James Roberts popped up in midfield and slicing open the Brynaman defence tackled near the line his outstretched arm grounding the ball. Converted by Dylan Francis. It was ten minutes before the first scrum ,and it proved to be a dominant part of Glynneath’s game as they drove the visitors off the ball .A scrum near the visitors post , expecting a drive to come on it was Luke Weaver who’s quick pick up saw him stroll over unopposed. Dylan Francis adding the extras .Brynaman started the second half as they did the first, exerting some pressure on the home defence but Glynneath kept their line intact , but were dealt a blow with a yellow card and Joe Davies converted the resulting penalty. This seem to sting the home side into life and they crossed for their third try when quick ball saw Sam Harris go over wide out , Francis adding a superb touchline conversion. On a rare occasion when the Glynneath scrum went back number eight Luke Weaver recovered and broke away and recycled ball saw centre Jed O’Reilly cut through to the posts for a converted try. Glynneath were cutting loose and after a touchline break by scrum half Hawkins , Jordan Griffiths was in support go go over wide out .A high kick by Jack O’Reilly saw an awkward bounce for the visitors full back , the ball falling kindly into the hands of Jayden Burton who slipped tackles and raced away to the line .Jack O’Reilly converting.Jordan Griffiths crossed for his second try after some excellent combined work by Jamie Roberts and Jayden Burton.Although it looks like a convincing victory some credit must go to the Brynaman side who gave Glynneath a stern test for a good part of the game .Full time Glynneath 45 Brynaman 3
