Glynneath v Brynmawr

This Plate tie was a hard fought affair, with the Glynneath eight withstanding incredible pressure from the bigger Brynmawr pack and in the end finishing the stronger.Glynneath drew first blood with a penalty by Jack O’Reilly. He increased his sides lead with another successful effort. Brynmawr came back at Glynneath with some strong scrummaging near the home line and were rewarded when Matt Cross went over in the corner.Glynneath wasted no time in regaining the advantage when Greg Roberts snatched up a loose ball to just make the line. This was turning into a ding dong battle with the visitors pack on top but it was the Glynneath backs that exposed the Brynmawr defence when they had good ball. Back came Brynmawr scoring a second try after spending long period on the Glynneath line.Liam Butler converting.Once again the visitors defence was stretched when Steff Stone made room for his fellow wing Aled Evans who was stopped just short of the line.Jack O’Reilly fired over a third penalty before Liam Butler put Brynmawr back in front going into a frantic last fifteen minutes.A great passage of play saw them regain the lead once again when Aled Evans made the line wide out.The ferocious tackling by every player of Glynneath throughout the game stunned the visitors and the Glynneath pack were now taking the game to Brynmawr and it was their turn to repel numerous Glynneath attacks but were forced to concede a penalty which Jack O’Reilly fired over in the closing minutes.Full time Glynneath 22 Brynmawr 15
