Bridgend Ath because of a lack of front row elected to go passive scrums from the start so hampered by having to play with fourteen players from the kick off .The Glynneath eight not surprisingly were in control from the start and after one concerted drive to the line was repelled by the home defence, a similar catch and drive saw hooker Craig Tennant getting the touchdown. A chance for the Athletic in the form of a penalty sailed well wide of the post before they conceded a second try , a copy of the first Tennant again getting the score .Bridgend were dealt a yellow card but even when down to thirteen men they managed to get on the scoreboard with a Scott Govan penalty . When back up to full compliment they still had no answer to Glynneath’s forward power and although Glynneath tried moving the ball at every opportunity it was the catch and drive that was paying dividends and from the same ploy Craig Tennant notched up his hat trick.Dylan Francis converting .The backs got in on the scoring act when centre Jed O’Reilly raced away seventy metres for a try under the posts , Francis adding the extra points.Craig Tennant went on to cross for another try again converted by Dylan Francis. The Bridgend defence must were dreading seeing Tennant with ball in hand as he went over for an incredible five try haul. Dylan Francis converting.A great touchline run by Joe Hughes saw him find support and it was Jed O’Reilly who finished off the move .Francis adding the conversion. Although Glynneath had run in seven tries they still had to defend furiously as the home side pounded the Glynneath line time and time again in the last ten minutes but the visitors pride themselves on their defence and kept their line intact .Full Time Bridgend Athletic 3 Glynneath 43
