Glynneath v Bridgend Athletic

Abernant Park is the place to be if you want to be treated to an exciting game. Following on from the previous home game in which Glynneath ran out winners against a strong Nantyffyllon side. This game was no different as the opening ten minutes was played at breathtaking pace . A great touchline run by Jayden Burton put Glynneath in a favourable position but after the visitors managed to clear their lines Glynneath went straight back at them with a superb break by Jed O’Reilly who found Owen Kennerley on his shoulder to go over for the opening try. Dylan Francis converting.A clever chip ahead and gather by wing Joe Hughes put Glynneath in another strong attacking position and from a solid scrum , an excellent well timed pass by Dylan Francis put Aled Evans through a gap to go over under the posts . Francis converted the extra points.Bridgend Athletic came back in the game when a driving maul saw Ben Owen getting the touchdown.Evan Beach converting. After a loose ball snapped up by Glynneath’s Kennerley he raced away and this time it was reversed roles as he found Jed O’Reilly in support to finish off . Dylan Francis converting. Both sides were serving up some exciting rugby and after Glynneath lost their way in the line out, losing three in a row they finally secured their own ball, Jed O’Reilly carved the visitors defence wide open to score a fantastic try. Francis duly converting.Again the visitors responded , with a great individual try by Mackenzie Cray who broke down the touchline and his well judged kick ahead saw him gather to score .On the stroke of halftime another driving maul by the visitors saw Tom Morgan go over for a try converted by Beach.Dylan Francis having fired over earlier conversions from in front of the posts was given a challenging 40 metre penalty and made no mistake with his kick .After the visitors conceded a series of penalties which Glynneath elected to run without breaching the Bridgend defence , they settled for the three points again from the boot of Dylan Francis .With Bridgend on the attack they were stunned when the move was intercepted by Owen Kennerley who raced away from 65 metres out for a lung bursting  race to the posts .Converted by Francis .Glynneath were on fire and after a great break by Aled Evans he put Joe Hughes over in the corner . Dylan Francis up to the task with another long attempt to the post .It was the visitors turn to take advantage of an interception and it was Mackenzie Gray who ran 90 metres to the corner to finish off an entertaining game.
