Birchgrove v Glynneath

Glynneath hoping to keep the momentum going after last weeks heavy defeat of Builth Wells were helped by their hosts indiscipline who saw a player in the bin from the kick off ,taking his opposite number out in the air. It was the home side who put the first points on the board with two successful penalties by Rhys Herbert. This stung Glynneath into action and a strong Aled Evans run put Luke Weaver away and his side stepping run saw him stopped just short of the line .The Glynneath back line were on fire and after another exciting move , hooker Craig Tennant crashed over with Dylan Francis converting. With Glynneath dominating the scrums another move saw a moment of stupidity by a Birchgrove player saw him given a red card for a blatant spear tackle right in front of the referee!!Glynneath making the most of the numerical advantage saw hooker Craig Tennant go over for his second try , Dylan Francis adding the conversion. The Glynneath backs were cutting loose and after some inter passing between centre Sam Harris and Harri Morgan it was the latter who finished off the move.Francis converting. Although Birchgrove were up against it a superb break out of defence saw their number 8 Leighton Cox carry on the move with a side stepping run that left Glynneath defenders flat footed only to be stopped short of the line. Although Glynneath were well on top when awarded a penalty they did the correct thing by going for the posts Francis being successful yet again. Powerful number 8 Luke Weaver outstripped the home defence with a 40 metre run to the line to secure the bonus point. Both sides were given a yellow card but  Glynneaths lively scrum half Owen Kennerly added another try converted by Francis. And when Joe Hughes finished off another great passing movement for his sides sixth try he followed minutes later with another try again converted by Dylan Francis.A consolation try by Aled Thomas converted by Herbert salvaged some pride for the home side .
