Glynneath v Waunarlwydd

Glynneath let victory slip from their grasp when having completely dominating the first half the game turned on its head to see them hanging on in the end as the visitors fought back to secure an unlikely draw !!A few early powerful runs by Craig Tennant had the visitors on the back foot but their defence held firm. With the Glynneath pack on top it wasn’t long before they conceded a score .It came in the shape of a penalty try,Glynneath being denied a try at the posts.Strong runs by Greg Roberts ,Shaun Tennant and Jordan Griffiths made ground with some strong running and they were rewarded when after another rolling maul took them close the ball went wide and wing Shaun Tennant did well to squeeze in at the corner.Jack O’Reilly fired over a superb touchline conversion.Waunarlwydd started the second half in lively fashion and it was Glynneaths turn to defend and when wing Neil Franklyn exposed a gap in the home defence his pass failed to go to hand. When Glynneath finally escaped the Waunarlwydd stranglehold it saw the visitors lose a player to the bin .Glynneath opted to go for a lineout instead of the posts and saw the referee deny them a scoring position deeming them at fault as they looked to drive the opposition scrum over the line!!This let off signaled the visitors fight back as with their packs driving mauls unsettling Glynneath one such move saw them rewarded with a try by Alan Pope who’s weaving run left defenders in his wake for an excellent individual score . Jamie Moore converting. It was all Waunarlwydd now and they laid seige to the Glynneath line and after scrum after scrum near the home line, the referee awarded a penalty try that saw the game end with honours even .Full time Glynneath 14 Waunarlwydd 14
