Glynneath v Dunvant

Glynneath opened the season with an excellent victory over a very good newly promoted Dunvant outfit.Ina ring don’t opening ten minutes the game went from end to end and it was only some great defence by the visitors which kept their line intact .The deadlock was broken when Glynneaths Jack O’Reilly slotted over a penalty .The Dunvant forwards looked lively with ball in hand with some excellent support play.Richard Lewis had a chance to put his side level and made no mistake with a penalty.Glynneath hit back when a high kick was gathered by Steff  Stone and his mesmerising run had the Dunvant defence at sixes and sevens before he crossed for his try. Dunvant looked to have scored a try of their own but dropped the ball over the line.Glynneath were caught cold when Dunvant scrum half Ben Ley took a quick penalty to go over .Richard Lewis converting.O’Reilly and Lewis exchanged penalties.From the restart Glynneath made ground only to lose the ball and scrum half Ben Ley punished them by racing away for his second try of the game .Lewis converting.Jack O’Reilly pulled three points back for Glynneath with his second penalty of the game.Again Dunvant came back and only two great tackles in the corner stopped a certain score.Yet again the visitors were denied,this time in the opposite corner.Down the other end some great handling saw Tennant brothers inter passing with Craig putting Sean away for an excellent try.Glynneath were on fire playing some scintillating rugby and Steff Stone set up a third try with some impressive side steps to put Arwel Davies away the final pass found Calum McPhee who outstripped the visitors defence to go over wide out . Jack O’Reilly adding an excellent touch line conversion. Just when Glynneath thought it was done and dusted it was that man Ben Ley  who scored his third try from a move that started in his own 22.Richard Lewis converting to set up a nail biting finish,with Glynneath holding on for a great win.
