Ammanford v Glynneath

This was a great game for the neutral, but both sets of coaches must have been pulling their hair out as both teams took it in turn to miss tackles and were guilty of drop passes !!It was Ammanford who took the lead when Hedd Wyn Jones grounded after a great drive by the forwards. It took a while for Glynneath to get into the game but when they finally got their game together,a series of controlled drives by the visiting eight saw Captain James Parry scoring the try.An excellent conversion by Jack O’Reilly put Glynneath into the lead.Glynneath were then awarded a penalty try that saw them double their score and resulted in Ammanford getting a yellow card.A penalty by the home sides Ryan Williams reduced the arrears and the same player then put his side back into the lead with a solo try which he duly converted.Back again came Glynneath and a superb delayed pass by Jack O’Reilly saw the ball find it’s way to Calum McPhee who raced away to score out wide.Again Jack O’Reilly was on the button with the touch line conversion.Glynneath we’re now running riot and a great pick up off his toes by Brogan Lloyd saw his pass find Jed O’Reilly who crossed for another try.Ammanford not done scored their third try when Rhodri Jones went over from another driving maul.At 20-26 at half time it was still anyone’s game but it was Glynneath who seized the initiative when more pressure on the home defence saw Greg Roberts snap up a loose ball to go over.O’Reilly adding the extras.Paul Davies scores a consolation try for Ammanford before Glynneath’s Calum McPhee powered away for his second and Glynneath’s sixth try of the game !!
